A cataract surgery is used to remove the lens of your eyes, and is replaced it with an artificial lens in most cases. This surgery helps in a condition in which a diminished vision is created in the lens of the eye. It is a non-painful procedure. Generally, the patients are awake during the whole procedure. Eye drops are used to numb the eye. This condition is caused due to the protein build ups in the lens of the eye. It is commonly seen in the old-aged people. However, it may be occurring in young adult and children as well. The eyes having cataract condition causes to look milky, clouded or foggy.

This might cause difficulty in performing day to day activities like driving, reading, or remembering faces. The ophthalmologists suggest cataract surgery to eliminate the problem of cataract surgery. It is impossible for the patients with cataract to grow back this condition.
What are the Causes of cataract?

What are the types of cataracts?
Age related cataract
As in age cataract, a cataract can develop because of natural changes in the lens of the eye. This is called an age related cataract its the most common type of cataract.
Trauma Cataract
Serious eye injuries can damage your lens and cause a cataract. The cataract could form quickly after the injury or it could be form many years later.
Pediatric/Congenital/Developmental Cataract
Congenital or Pediatric cataract occur due to some disturbance in the normal growth of the lens. When the disturbance is before birth, the child is born with congenital cataract.
Radiation Cataract
Drug included cataract occur due to use of some topical as well as systemic steroids.
Drug Included Cataract
Certain types of radiation can cause cataract. This include ultraviolet (UV rays) rays from the sun and radiation treatment for cancer.
What is the Do’s & Don’ts After Cataract Surgery
Do’s
- You can start shaving on the third day after the cataract operation.
- You can even resume certain activities like watching TV or shopping after 2-3 days.
- You must instill eye drops as advised by your eye doctor.
- You must wash your hands regularly before you apply for medicines.
Don’ts
- You should never rub your eyes with dirty hands.
- Eye washing with normal water is not allowed for 10 days.
- Do no lift heavy weights and avoid any type of straining activities for a month.
