Increasing plastic waste in the community is one of the biggest mistakes in human history. We can’t leave the burden on the government sector or depend on municipal corporations’ help. It is high time that humans must take some responsibility to save mother earth. The chemicals used in the production of plastic are toxic and detrimental to the human body. Chemicals in plastics -like lead, cadmium, and mercury can be harmful. These toxins can cause cancers, congenital disabilities, immune system problems, and childhood development issues.

We believe that by making the community/patients aware of the dangers of plastic waste to human life and the impact of plastic waste oncoming generations, we can collectively do more to eliminate plastic waste from our community.

Instead of free cataract surgery, we motivate patients to collect and bring the plastic waste surrounding their homes using the slogan “Clean my home Clean my Country”. Allowing them to bring their plastic waste, encourages more patients to come forward who can’t afford the cost of cataract surgery.

The end result is that we are aiming to clean up each village and make them free of plastic waste with patients’ help. The plastic waste collected through the patients is then sent to the local authority for recycling purposes. So it’s a win-win situation for all.
